Federico Diaz,
Super Magna Owner #19
The Super Magna Owner Group was notified on 03/20/2000 that Super Magna
owner Federico Diaz of Buenos Aires, Argentina, was recently
killed in a traffic accident on his 1987 Honda Magna. What
follows is a brief description of the tragic events that
occurred the night of March 6, 2000:
Federico was riding his '87 Magna home to Buenos Aires
from an off-shore boat race on a clear night on poorly
maintained roads. His wife and parents were following behind
Federico in separate vehicles.
Approximately 200km from home, Federico stopped for fuel
at a gas station, then returned to the road. A short time
later, Federico came upon a sharp bend in the road. At a
speed of approximately 60 kph, Federico caught the edge of
the roadway and lost control of the bike. Federico was
ejected from the motorcycle and into a guide rail. Federico
suffered massive internal injuries and his neck was injured
by his helmet.
Federico was rushed to a local medical facility, where he
struggled valiantly for several hours until succumbing to
his injuries.
On a personal note, I would like to extend my and the
organizations deepest sympathies and condolences to
Federico's wife, family and friends. Words can not express
the profound feeling of sadness and loss felt by fellow
riders who have only known Federico through an email address
thousands of miles away.
In memoriam, Federico's member number 19 has been
permanently retired from the owners list. The circumstances
of Federico's accident have been reported here at the
request of Federico's family and friends in hope that such
an incident will never be repeated.
Our hearts go out to all who knew him, and he will
forever ride with us in our hearts.
