Story: About five years ago I saw a man leaving a bike show on a bike, which to me seemed a bit different so I stopped him and asked what it was? That was it I wanted one! Well after a long search looking at rubbish I was contacted by some people who had a bike with 22.000 miles, at first I wasn’t going to bother as I thought it must be as bad as the other abused examples I’d looked at but they insisted on sending some pictures, once again I thought pictures lie. But I made the trip even though the temperature was below zero and there had been some snowfall the night before. Not really an inspiring trip but my first glimpse of the beast sitting under a cover outside of their front door (As they had no Garage) Told me it was loved and cared for. They purchased it at 6.000 miles and used it daily even using it for their many trips over to France. It was apparently wax oiled all over every winter and cleaned off in spring. The front fender was rusty and a shock top cover and muffler protector had been lost, the side covers had the normal cracks with a stone crack on the Speedo pod and there were signs of rust on some of the mounting bolts etc but it didn’t look like a 22.000 miler. I had to have it. As I had left home with no intentions of buying what I expected to be rubbish I needed to get it back. Kindly the owner’s partner offered to put on her finest thermals and ride it home for me and believe me as if by magic most of the snow had cleared from the road for the ride. Fender and side panels have been blasted repaired and painted all parts that will polish are getting the treatment and come lay up time next winter I will start on engine chroming etc. All I want to do for now is to ride it and hear those barking exhausts.
