07/03/03 - Steve sends
along this description of his license plate mod:
I had this idea of moving my license plate to
the side after I saw a special with Jesse James and
his custom bikes. I have attached a picture showing
my new modification. I have used the original
license plate light assembly that was on the back
and it is working fine. I designed the mounting
bracket that all this connects too in about two
weeks and had it made out of 1/8" Stainless Steel.
It works great with very little movement. The hard
part was making the old rear fender area look good.
This took allot of dremel work and patience! I did
have to cut the steel support rods that held the old
license plate assembly in place. But I have gone
riding with my wife on the back and it has been just
fine. Those supports do not have an load on them. I
wanted to show you, and others, my new modification
to see if there is any interest in making more of
these brackets to custom some other Supers. Let me
know what you think.
3 months ago I was searching cycletrader.com and did
a search for 1985 thru 1994 Honda's. WOW there she
was a wonderfully restored 1987 Blue VF700C Honda
Super Magna! I started to search the net for more
info on this bike and that is when I found
Supermagna.com. (Thank you so much for this site and
all the time it must take you all) So I went through
every gallery you have (21 at the time) and decided
that YES this was the bike for me. I really wanted
to see one in person before I started my search so I
came here to Supermagna.com and found a fella in
Indiana, Scott Memmer (183) He lives about 1 1/2
hours away from us. I sent him an email and he
enthusiastically agreed for us to come down and
check out the bike. He has a nice red 1987
Supermagna. That was all it took!!!! The blue 87
would be mine. So I search Cycle trader for about 2
months and found some nice bikes but they where
either to much or to far away. Suddenly there she
was a 1987 Blue Supermagna at a very nice price
(thanks Steve) and it was only 6 hours away. I
hooked up the trailer that my brother and I just got
(he has a 1994 CBR 600) and off I went. Steve and
his wife where great folks and we had a nice time
talking and loading up the bike, they where moving
and needed to unload the magna to help with
expenses. We got her loaded on the trailer and off I
was to get her to her new home in Indiana. I have
put about 250 miles on her in the past 2 weeks and I
am having a blast. I think this one is a keeper. My
wife loves it, my 3 year old son thinks it is super,
and I just got a new blue Shoei X-Tec helmet on ebay
at a great price, things are looking good! So for
now I will continue to ride with my wife and brother
and just enjoy my new motorcycle. Steve
