| Story: |
After taking the MSF course, I
went shopping for my first bike about a year ago.
Buddy-o-mine had an '84 Magna up on the block and I
was ready to buy it. Drove it enough to know it was
a pretty nice starter. Well, it appears that his gal
liked riding on the back so much that he got the up
and down for even thinking about selling it. No
matter, now I knew what I liked. Ah, what's this?
'87 Magna in the classies for a mere $2200? Hmm, too
much for a Magna that old. Two weeks later...Oh, I
see here that same Magna's down to $1900. Well, I
should go have a look! "Hi howya doin'?" "All right.
Well, there it is," he says, looking pressed for
time. "Wow!" [Mentally to Self: That ain't no Magna!
What the...it's like all sporty and raked out!]
"26,000 miles on her huh?," I say [Man, this is NOT
what I was looking for!]. "Yep. She runs good
though, see?" [turns it over, starts right up].
"Yeah, sounds sweet. Well, uh, okay thanks for your
time, man." Went home in disarray. How could that be
a Magna?! It was so...different. Thank God for the
friendly neighborhood Internet. A Super Magna
they're callin' it eh? Kuel. Little did I I know,
though I was not looking for it, it was exactly what
I was looking for. Panic set in...maybe it had sold!
By the time I frantically got the guy on the phone,
he was ready to take $1700 for it. I don't think the
boy knew his Magna was so Super. A quick test drive
and she was mine. $500 later into some Metzelers, a
carb clean & synch, and a new air filter, I don't
see letting it go. |
